Naturopathic medicine is a primary health care system that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. The naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the healing power of the body to treat the underlying cause of disease. Symptoms of disease are not treated individually, but are taken in context as warning signals of improper functioning of the body, and unfavourable lifestyle habits.
Naturopathic treatments are chosen based on the individual patient – their physiological, structural, psychological, social, spiritual, environment and lifestyle factors. Naturopathic medicine can be effective in treating a wide range of health concerns, from acute to chronic diseases, in patients of all ages from pediatric to geriatric.

Dr. Rick Olazabal, ND, BSc is a registered clinician with a special interest in endocrine and metabolic syndromes. He is certified by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario to perform intravenous (IV) therapy, and has met the Standard of Practice for Therapeutic Prescribing. Dr. Olazabal has additional training in medical acupuncture, so he combines this skill to provide adjunct pain relief. These services are also offered in Spanish.
Dr. Olazabal's passion for endocrinology began during his clinical training and was fuelled by frustration and the desire to support those in need. Having experienced his mother’s long fight against thyroid cancer, he understands the struggle patients must overcome. By being an active participant in his mother’s difficult journey, Dr. Olazabal acknowledges the gaps and limitations in care and strives to address them.
